The always lovely Stephen Colbert has done it again! His first
dive into the world that is children’s books I AM A POLE (AND SO CAN YOU) is a wondrous,
sweet, and simple tale of a pole trying to find his purpose in life.
Now I listened to the audio book version where Colbert and
TOM HANKS read you the tale of this sweet little pole. It lasted about eight
minutes but it was full of awesome.
So the short sweet story is this: The pole doesn’t know what
his purpose is. Is he a firefighter pole? Is he a stripper pole? What kind of
pole is he supposed to be? That is his journey and if you think of the
character that is Stephen Colbert I think you can guess what this young pole
ends up being? (Hint: It’s very patriotic.)
One hundred percent of the proceeds of the audio book go to
the awesome US Veterans Initiation that helps our Vets out. Which I think is
pretty cool!
Definitely go out and get both versions of the book because
the illustrations (that I saw online because I only had enough to get the audio
book ($1.95 on Audible!) this month) are soooo adorable!
Also just a side note to my fellow Colbert fans: If you
don’t know about his second real book with all the words and what not, AMERICA
AGAIN: RE-BECOMING THE GREATNESS WE NEVER WEREN’T is hitting the stores in
October!!

Running away brings
Rhine and Gabriel right into a trap, in the form of a twisted carnival
whose ringmistress keeps watch over a menagerie of girls. Just as Rhine
uncovers what plans await her, her fortune turns again. With Gabriel at
her side, Rhine travels through an environment as grim as the one she
left a year ago - surroundings that mirror her own feelings of fear and
hopelessness.
The two are determined to get to Manhattan, to
relative safety with Rhine’s twin brother, Rowan. But the road there is
long and perilous - and in a world where young women only live to age
twenty and young men die at twenty-five, time is precious. Worse still,
they can’t seem to elude Rhine’s father-in-law, Vaughn, who is
determined to bring Rhine back to the mansion...by any means necessary.
In the sequel to Lauren DeStefano’s harrowing Wither, Rhine must decide if freedom is worth the price - now that she has more to lose than ever

That Kevin
Smith? The guy who did “Clerks” a million years ago? Didn’t they bounce
his fat ass off a plane once? What could you possibly learn from the
director of “Cop Out”? How about this: he changed filmmaking forever
when he was twenty-three, and since then, he’s done whatever the hell he
wants. He makes movies, writes comics, owns a store, and now he’s built
a podcasting empire with his friends and family, including a wife who’s
way out of his league. So here’s some tough shit: Kevin Smith has
cracked the code. Or, he’s just cracked.
Tough Sh*t is the dirty business that Kevin has been digesting for 41 years and now, he’s ready to put it in your
hands. Smear this shit all over yourself, because this is your
blueprint (or brownprint) for success. Kev takes you through some big
moments in his life to help you live your days in as Gretzky a fashion as you can: going where the puck is gonna
be. Read all about how a zero like Smith managed to make ten movies
with no discernible talent, and how when he had everything he thought
he’d ever want, he decided to blow up his own career. Along the way, Kev
shares stories about folks who inspired him (like George Carlin), folks
who befuddled him (like Bruce Willis), and folks who let him jerk off
onto their legs (like his beloved wife, Jen). So make this your daily
reader. Hell, read it on the toilet if you want. Just make sure you grab
the bowl and push, because you’re about to take one Tough Sh*t

Simmi Shergill's life
is a mess. Her powers of psychic feeling are on the fritz, and Grandon
Township's sudden population boom has brought quite a few unsavory
characters to town. She also looks like an over-blown balloon in her
size 14 pants, but not even starving herself seems to be working as a
diet plan. Well, at least her boyfriend, Alex, loves her so much he'd
do anything for her. Last summer he even risked his life to protect her
from the mysterious boy everyone was convinced wanted to kill her.
The
problem is, she's not so sure she feels the same way. Is Alex really
the man of her dreams? And why can't she stop fixating on her would-be
killer, Dax? Whenever he's around, part of her wants to run screaming in
the other direction while the other part longs to run into his embrace,
no matter who she’d hurt or what she’d risk.
Simmi's loyalty is
on the line. Who will she choose—the blind seer who loves her, or the
charming telekinetic with "bad idea" written all over him? Emotions run
high as the tension mounts in book two of the Farsighted series
