Blog Tour/ Review: Torn Together by Emlyn Chand

By 10:11 AM , , ,

From her cheating boyfriend to her dead father and cold, judgmental mother, Daly knows she can't trust others to be there when it counts. This cynicism begins to melt away when she meets Kashi, a light-hearted charmer from India, who decides he cares too much to let her fade into the background of her own life. After a series of false starts, their quirky romance carries them to India, where Daly must win the approval of Kashi’s family in order to seal their "forever."

Meanwhile, Laine struggles to cope with the pain of early widowhood, fleeing into the pages of her well-worn library and emerging only to perform her duties as a social worker at the crisis pregnancy center. Although her daughter wants nothing more than to work as an artist, Laine doesn’t know how to redirect Daly to a more suitable profession without further damaging their tenuous relationship.

Can Laine look past her pain to learn from an unlikely mentor? Has Daly finally found someone whom she can trust? Will the women recognize their common bonds before the relationship is broken beyond repair?

Hello dear friends old and new! Welcome to this stop on the Torn Together blog tour! Or just welcome back!

So! O.M.G was this book amazing! I had to have a box of tissues next to me and I don't cry or sniffle that much when reading books. I am a stoic when it comes to emotions sometimes, but of course Emlyn Chand has broken me again! (First time was with Open Heart! Go see the review of that one here and then go read Farsighted first then that one!)

Torn Together is this beautiful story about broken relationships and trying to mend them as best as possible. Daly, who we see the most POV from, is trying to find true happiness after going through an awful relationship and still coping with the loss of her father. While her mother, Laine, who is a kind of recluse, hides in her books as a way of dealing with the loss of  her husband, Daly's father, and the strained relationship between her and Daly.

This book was so relatable, and fortunately I personally haven't gone through stuff like they did, but I felt so much for Laine because her coping mechanism is my own as well, so to see her go through that made me sympathize for her more so than Daly. I love Chand's writing so much already, but this just made me fall in love with her even more with how she developed these characters as well as all the supporting ones who were equally beautifully written.

Torn Together is highly reccomended by me and again: have tissues on standby!

  1. YAY! I think this is my favorite review yet, Lydia. I'm ecstatic that you enjoy everything I write <3 Makes me feel like I'm doing something right, you know? And, I totally get you about relating to Laine. At first I thought I was the most like Laine, but over time I've found myself more in the character of Meghann--which is a good thing I think.

Thank you for taking part in my big tour. Please, if you have a moment, cross-post to Amazon and GoodReads. I'd truly appreciate it :-D
