Just in time for Valentine's Day, the wonderful Sophie Jordan has released a novella in her Forgotten Princess series, The Earl in My Bed! From the description, it is not going to disappoint!

Intended for one man ...
All her life, everyone assumed Paget Ellsworth, the vicar’s daughter,
would marry the Earl of Winningham’s youngest son. And when he left for
war with his older brother, Jamie, words and promises were not
necessary. She would wait.
But destined for another …
Four years pass, and the death of his father forces Jamie home to
take up the reins as the new earl, leaving his brother fighting on the
front lines a world away. Maddening, infuriating, sexy Jamie makes Paget
question her feelings. One glimpse, one word from him awakens desire in
her heart. When a simple kiss spirals out of control at the annual
Valentine’s Day ball, she realizes the man she never wanted is the man
she needs ... but will Paget cast aside all she’s ever thought to be
true to win the man of her dreams?

Kara Magari is about to discover a beautiful world full of terrifying things—Ourea.
Kara,
a college student still reeling from her mother’s recent death, has no
idea the hidden world of Ourea even exists until a freak storm traps her
in a sunken library. With no way out, she opens an ancient book of
magic called the Grimoire and unwittingly becomes its master, which
means Kara now wields the cursed book’s untamed power. Discovered by
Ourea's royalty, she becomes an unwilling pawn in a generations-old
conflict—a war intensified by her arrival. In this world of chilling
creatures and betrayal, Kara shouldn’t trust anyone… but she’s being
hunted and can’t survive on her own. She drops her guard when Braeden, a
native soldier with a dark secret, vows to keep her safe. And though
she doesn’t know it, her growing attraction to him may just be her
undoing.
For twelve years, Braeden Drakonin has lived a lie. The
Grimoire is his one chance at redemption, and it lands in his lap when
Kara Magari comes into his life. Though he begins to care for this human
girl, there is something he wants more. He wants the Grimoire.
Welcome to Ourea, where only the cunning survive.

From her cheating
boyfriend to her dead father and cold, judgmental mother, Daly knows she
can't trust others to be there when it counts. This cynicism begins to
melt away when she meets Kashi, a light-hearted charmer from India, who
decides he cares too much to let her fade into the background of her own
life. After a series of false starts, their quirky romance carries them
to India, where Daly must win the approval of Kashi’s family in order
to seal their "forever."
Meanwhile, Laine struggles to cope with
the pain of early widowhood, fleeing into the pages of her well-worn
library and emerging only to perform her duties as a social worker at
the crisis pregnancy center. Although her daughter wants nothing more
than to work as an artist, Laine doesn’t know how to redirect Daly to a
more suitable profession without further damaging their tenuous
relationship.
Can Laine look past her pain to learn from an
unlikely mentor? Has Daly finally found someone whom she can trust? Will
the women recognize their common bonds before the relationship is
broken beyond repair?

Set in New York and
Paris amid the glamorous and competitive worlds of art and real estate,
Scorpio Rising takes the reader from the late 1940s to the 1960s through
the tumultuous lives of its heroes.
There is Alex Ivanov, the
son of a Russian immigrant and part-time prostitute. He yearns to escape
his sordid life and achieve fame and fortune. His dreams of becoming a
world-class builder are met with countless obstacles, yet he perseveres
in the hope of someday receiving the recognition he craves.
Half
a world away, Brigitte Dartois is an abused teenager who runs into the
arms of a benefactor with an agenda all his own. When she finds out that
her boss has an ulterior motive, she flees again, determined to earn
her living through her art. This career brings her fame, but also the
unwanted attention of her early abuser.
Monique Domovitch’s
debut novel, Scorpio Rising, is a compelling tale filled with finely
etched characters and a superb understanding of the power of ambition.
Scorpio Rising promises to resonate with all who once had a dream.
This book is pure amazingness. There is not a dull moment between these two characters, Alex and Brigitte. It had that alternating narrative that I love a LOT and never was a disappointment. Domovitch's intricate tale of these two stories are woven perfectly together. If the length of the novel is too much, DON'T GIVE UP ON IT! It goes so quickly because you get wrapped up in everything. Plus the backdrop of the 40s to 1960s adds this amazing quality of setting to the story that equally wraps you up in all of the story as well!

"To the medical
world, I was a host body, surviving only to bring a new life into the
world. And while I wanted to die more than anything in the world, I
never wanted this. No, I never wanted to cease to exist. This was the
worst death of all.”
Jude Black lives in that in-between,
twilight place teetering on death but clinging to life in order to bring
her baby into this world. Only she knows the circumstances surrounding
her mysterious fall off the bluff that landed her in the hospital being
kept alive by medical intervention. Only she knows who the father of her
baby is. In this poignantly crafted literary novel, the mystery unfolds
and the suspense builds as the consequences of Jude’s decisions
threaten to reveal everyone's deceptions, even her own. Bluff offers a
sensitive look at essential questions such as the value of human life,
the consciousness of those in a coma and the morality of terminating
life support. At the core is the story of a tragically misunderstood
woman who finds peace, acceptance, understanding and even love on her
deathbed.
This book was AMAZING!!! It walked the line on some touchy subjects so perfectly and so well. I know those adjectives go hand in hand, but it does! Skomal did such an amazing job bringing these characters to life and had such an intricate way of doing it, not so straight forward (which we all know I love!). Plus I really liked how it made you think and invest in about the story. Not many books do that now, they do either one or the other. I had to have a recovery day with all the thinking I had going on about stuff. It was awesome! I highly recommend this to any one who likes well planned out plots and characters that you have to root for or secretly worry about!

LOVE IS A DRUG.
In 1980 NYC, eighteen-year-old J.J. Buckingham is an uptight
trendoid. Working as a mannequin painter and a counter girl, she
moonlights as a creature of the nightclubs. J.J. falls for aloof,
crazy-talented artist and bicycle messenger X-It. In order to win his
love, she succumbs to the dark machinations of drug dealer Marko Voodoo.
X-It will love her if she’s the queen of underground Manhattan, right?
Her plan backfires with horrendous consequences. J.J. must scrap her way
out of a maze of drugs, clubs, and danger before she realizes she’s
worthy of a better life. And true love might just come in the form of a
clean-cut geek in Buddy Holly glasses.
This book was a roller coaster in the best way possible!!! Going on this crazy nostalgic ride with J.J. was amazing and very very very 80s. Not bad 80s but like all those things that the ones that didn't live during that time hear about it and wish we were apart of (I was born in 1990. You do the math.). So my comparison would be a tame Sid and Nancy and that one movie with Robert Downey Jr. and Molly Ringwald but not as campy. It's a weird reference but it's the only one I got!
X-It has you rooting for the underdog and in love with characters that if they were real you would want to help them with every part of your being! I highly suggest this if you are an 80s-phile, need some nostalgia from days past, or just need a good read!
