Eleven-year-old Cora Flash is ecstatic when she finally convinces her mom to let her take a train ride by herself to visit a relative in the mountains. Cora Flash and the Diamond of Madagascar is the adorable, middle-grade tale that will have you reminisce of the days when you curled up with your favorite Nancy Drew and a flashlight.
While on her first train trip by herself to visit her Uncle Andre, Cora meets a cast of characters, and a cute little dog by the name of Calvin, that band together to solve the mystery of the stolen Diamond of Madagascar.
This book was such a delight to read an reminded me so much of the books that I read when I was little. It reminded me a lot of the old 1940s train sagas that were so amazing which I think was Daveys' point because he does mention that Cora likes those kind of movies as well.
If you have a kid who is in to really great, cute adventure books, boy or girl, this is a great pick. It's even great if you're like me and want a great read that throws back to the age of Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys!

This book was what I wanted from the second in the Forgotten Princess series and more!
First off I didn't realize it was directly connected to "Wicked in Your Arms" (
review here) until it mentioned in the first few pages about Grier, but I should have known better because as an after thought I remembered that Cleo, the lovely subject of this one, was in the first book when Grier was introduced to her towards the end when their father found out about her.

If I said I don't like Tina Fey, that would be a freaking outright lie! I love this woman with all my heart and listening to her read her book, Bossypants made me sooooo happy the whole time.
I finished it awhile ago and totally thought I put up a review for it and then I check on here and see it's not so!
Bossypants is exactly what you want in a memoir: life lessons, awesome anecdotes, how to survive fires on a cruise boat, and how to be awesome (She doesn't explain that last one, the whole book is basically that because she is. Can you tell yet that I'm a Tina Fey fangirl? Can you?) She even goes into that whole Sarah Palin thing that happened. Which I found very enlightening!
I would go on about this book, but I'd be basically reciting the book verbatum. So I will leave you saying get the book (Audio version is awesome because she reads it to you!!!!) and dive in.
Or I could just fill this whole post with a TON of Tina Fey = Love. =)

The always lovely Stephen Colbert has done it again! His first
dive into the world that is children’s books I AM A POLE (AND SO CAN YOU) is a wondrous,
sweet, and simple tale of a pole trying to find his purpose in life.
Now I listened to the audio book version where Colbert and
TOM HANKS read you the tale of this sweet little pole. It lasted about eight
minutes but it was full of awesome.
So the short sweet story is this: The pole doesn’t know what
his purpose is. Is he a firefighter pole? Is he a stripper pole? What kind of
pole is he supposed to be? That is his journey and if you think of the
character that is Stephen Colbert I think you can guess what this young pole
ends up being? (Hint: It’s very patriotic.)
One hundred percent of the proceeds of the audio book go to
the awesome US Veterans Initiation that helps our Vets out. Which I think is
pretty cool!
Definitely go out and get both versions of the book because
the illustrations (that I saw online because I only had enough to get the audio
book ($1.95 on Audible!) this month) are soooo adorable!
Also just a side note to my fellow Colbert fans: If you
don’t know about his second real book with all the words and what not, AMERICA
AGAIN: RE-BECOMING THE GREATNESS WE NEVER WEREN’T is hitting the stores in
October!!
