Friday's Five is a new meme hosted by Steph over a Steph's Stacks. It's the time of the week where five of your favorite books are featured and given some love!

Last week we fell in love with John Green all over again, this week's list is a sample of some of the books that shaped me.

 1) exit here. by Jason Myers

Travis is back from college for the summer, and he's just starting to settle in to the usual pattern at home: drinking, drugging, watching porn, and hooking up.But Travis isn't settling in like he used to; something isn't right. Maybe it's that deadly debauch in Hawaii, the memories of which Travis can't quite shake. Maybe it's Laura, Travis's ex, who reappears on the scene after a messy breakup and seems to want to get together — or not. Or maybe it's his suddenly sensing how empty and messed up his life is, and wanting out. But once you're at the party, it's tough to leave...

This book was so amazing and is one that makes you think. It's kind of hard to get into, but once you do you're hooked with Myers words from there in.
 2) Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte

Orphaned into the household of her Aunt Reed at Gateshead, subject to the cruel regime at Lowood charity school, Jane Eyre nonetheless emerges unbroken in spirit and integrity. She takes up the post of governess at Thornfield, falls in love with Mr. Rochester, and discovers the impediment to their lawful marriage in a story that transcends melodrama to portray a woman's passionate search for a wider and richer life than Victorian society traditionally allowed. With a heroine full of yearning, the dangerous secrets she encounters, and the choices she finally makes, Charlotte Bronte's innovative and enduring romantic novel continues to engage and provoke readers.

I read this book when I was in the third grade. It's what, aside from The Babysitter's Club books, got me hooked on classic literature. The heart wrenching pain that Jane went through was one of the most real experiences I've ever had.

3) Harry Potter series and 4) The Twilight Saga

You know how these go. =)

If it weren't for Harry Potter and Twilight Saga I would not be where I am today. Iwould not be blogging. I would not have the wonderful friends that I have or the experiences that I have encountered. All because of my love for these books!

5) I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell by Tucker Max

My name is Tucker Max, and I am an asshole. I get excessively drunk at inappropriate times, disregard social norms, indulge every whim, ignore the consequences of my actions, mock idiots and posers, sleep with more women than is safe or reasonable, and just generally act like a raging dickhead. But, I do contribute to humanity in one very important way: I share my adventures with the world. —from the Introduction

This book is rude and crude, but hilarious! I read this at one of the lowest points in my life and the hilarious antidotes in this book helped me through laughing every time. Plus when I met him last year, he was one of the nicest guys in the whole entire world. Seriously.

  1. You've showcased a wide range of genres this week and I love it! Your reading tastes are alot like mine: Harry Potter one day and Tucker Max the next, awesome! I haven't read exit here, but will have to check it out. It sounds a little Bret Easton Ellis to me and I love his books.

I posted your link on Steph's Stacks since my Friday's Five was up after yours this week. Thanks for participating!

  2. @Steph Always welcome! You would love exit here. It's really kind of different than any book I've read because Jason Myers has this style that is purely unique to him that is really cool.
